Sales Assistant – Casual/Permanent  (Experienced Sales Focus)

Departments: Bird Reptile/ Small Animals/ Cashier/ Aquarium

We’re seeking an experienced and results-driven Sales Assistant to join our team. This role is ideal for a confident retail professional who excels at driving sales, building customer relationships, and delivering outstanding in-store experiences. Weekend availability is essential.

About You

We’re looking for a high-performing sales professional who:

  • Has proven retail sales experience with a strong track record of achieving or exceeding targets
  • Is confident in upselling, cross-selling, and maximising transaction value
  • Excels at building rapport quickly and delivering exceptional customer service
  • Has strong communication and influencing skills
  • Is proactive, self-motivated, and thrives in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Takes ownership of sales performance and contributes to team success
  • Maintains a polished, professional approach with a “results-first” mindset
  • Is available to work weekends and public holidays
  • Animal knowledge or experience is advantageous, but not essential

The Role

At Pet City, we pride ourselves on combining expert advice with a strong sales culture. In this role, you will:

  • Drive sales by actively engaging customers and recommending tailored solutions
  • Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell across our product range
  • Consistently work towards and exceed individual and team sales targets
  • Deliver a premium customer experience that encourages repeat business and loyalty
  • Maintain high visual merchandising standards and ensure stock availability
  • Support the upkeep of in-store animal enclosures (training provided if required)

This is a casual position with the potential to transition into a permanent role for high performers.
