Frequently asked questions about Fluval products

Is Fluval a good brand?

Fluval aquariums are beautiful, minimalistic, and durable aquariums. With a long history in the industry dating back to 1975, they combine unique designs and high functionality to produce a wide range of aquariums and accessories. They are also less expensive than other popular brands, which makes them a great first aquarium to have.

Where are Fluval products made?

Fluval is owned by Rolf C. Hagen group based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, which specialises in manufacturing top quality pet products. The popular Fluval Canister Filters are quality made in Italy.

How do I use the Fluval stratum?

After you get your Fluval Stratum, you must first rinse it in cold, running water. You may find it easier to put it in a large strainer, washing about one-third of the bag at a time. Do not move the stratum around with your hand while washing as you would with gravel, as this will cause it to break apart. You’ll find that the stratum will turn your tank water cloudy initially, but this will clear in one or two days.

How often should I clean my Fluval canister filter?

Fluval canister filters have been designed for easy and effective mechanical media access. Cleaning your canister filter once a month will help to prevent organic pollutants from impairing the water quality. Experts recommend cleaning your canister filter a few days after you perform a water change and tank clean.
