We have several departments including small pets, bird & reptile, aquarium and online and we pride ourselves on the specialised knowledge our passionate team can offer in these areas. Sales Assistant – Casual/Permanent

Departments: Bird & Reptile | Small Animals | Cashier | Aquarium (Freshwater & Marine)

Do you love animals, enjoy meeting people, and thrive in a busy retail environment? Pet City is looking for enthusiastic and customer-focused Sales Assistants to join our team.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys building relationships with customers, sharing advice, achieving sales goals, and being surrounded by a huge variety of amazing animals every day. Weekend availability is essential.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has retail sales experience and enjoys helping customers find the right solutions for their pets
  • Is confident recommending products and identifying opportunities to enhance the customer experience
  • Loves meeting new people and providing exceptional customer service
  • Communicates confidently and builds rapport easily
  • Is motivated, reliable, and enjoys working as part of a team
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same
  • Takes pride in achieving sales goals while creating positive customer experiences
  • Is available to work weekends and public holidays
  • Has animal knowledge or experience (highly regarded but not essential)

The Role

At Pet City, we're passionate about pets, people, and providing expert advice. Every day brings something different, from helping families prepare for a new puppy, to assisting reptile enthusiasts, aquarium hobbyists, and bird lovers.

In this role, you will:

  • Assist customers by providing friendly, knowledgeable advice and recommendations
  • Help customers find the best products and solutions for their pets
  • Contribute to individual and team sales goals through outstanding customer service
  • Build customer loyalty through positive and memorable shopping experiences
  • Maintain attractive merchandising displays and well-stocked shelves
  • Support the care and upkeep of in-store animal enclosures (training provided if required)
  • Work alongside a passionate team who share a genuine love of animals and customer service

This is a casual position with the opportunity to transition into a permanent role for the right person.
