Dimming stops the need for the bulb to turn on and off constantly, extending its life and providing a more realistic heat source for your reptile or amphibian. The dual plug allows the fitment of both a heat source and other equipment such as a light, ventilaton or misting system to run off a timer.

Eco Tech - Repti Thermostat Dimming Day/Nit - The product is great but can become a hassle

So I purchased this little bad boy a little while ago. I plugged it in and it was all working good. I needed to change a bulb. I turned the bulb off via the switch in the cord and changed the bulb. When I turned the bulb on it tripped the power, fried the Thermostat, fried the socket. I put the bulb in another socket and it worked fine. But now because the power tripped and it surged the Thermostat. I'm up for a new thermostat because it has no surge protection on the warranty. It's a great product but definitely have it on a surge protection board as my negligence has cost me an extra $150 to replace the thermostat
