Parrot Play School
Parrot Play School is an intensive 4 week program designed to help parrots and their owners form a strong bond based on learning and positive reinforcement.
Whether you own a Budgie or a Cockatoo, a Conure or a Cockatiel, Parrot Play School will ensure the whole family is able to help train and teach you feathered friend.
Run by a qualified Animal Behaviourist, you will learn to break down different behaviours and manage different situations that may arise.
The class runs for 4 Weeks in a row, on Saturday afternoons here at Pet City.
Parrot Class 4-week Program:
During the programme you, as the owner, will gain knowledge and have a practical understanding of:
- How animals learn
- Reward based training
- Bite inhibition
- Preventing and solving simple problem behaviours such as feather plucking, separation anxiety and biting
- Health care
- Diet and nutrition
- Cage placement
- Environmental enrichment
All our training is done through non-physical, non-confrontational means using positive motivational methods.
The birds are set up to suceed, as this will increase the frequency of the behavior happening again. When birds show undesirable behaviours they are ignored or made non-reinforcing. This is done by removing a positive reward or giving the bird a LRS (Least Reinforcing Scenario) or time out.
The cost of the class is: $99.95

Class numbers are kept to a maximum of 6 as this allows us to give more individual attention to bird and owner.

NOTE:
It is essential that every bird attending Parrot Play School is wormed at least two weeks before the first class and has been tested (negative) for Clamydia no longer than 2 weeks before the first class.
